MenuGauge (“MenuGauge,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides the MenuGauge AI Google Sheets add-on (the “Service”) and this website (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information. For purposes of this Policy, “you” and “your” refer to users of the Service and visitors to the Site.

2. Data we collect
- Account and billing data: license email address, name or store name, country/region, and billing data processed via Stripe.
- In-sheet data: menu item names, costs, prices, and similar. By default this stays in your Google account (Sheets) and is not persistently stored on our servers. If you explicitly use features such as sharing a snapshot or sending an error report, the minimum necessary data may be transmitted.
- Event logs: minimal metadata about feature use (e.g., launches, settings saved, report runs), including timestamps, results, and error messages.
- Support data: inquiry contents, contact details, and attachments you send.
- Technical data: device/browser type and language, IP address, identifiers via cookies or similar, referrer, and site interaction events.
- Surveys and feedback: optional satisfaction ratings, improvement requests, and reviews.
Note: We do not store card numbers. Payments are handled by Stripe.
3. How we collect data
- Information you provide in forms or the add-on UI (sign-up, settings, contact, etc.).
- Automatically generated minimal event logs during add-on execution.
- Cookies or similar technologies for analytics and quality improvement on the site.
- Billing status notifications from Stripe (e.g., success/failure).
4. Purposes of use
- Providing, maintaining, and improving the Google Sheets add-on.
- Billing, payment status checks, and plan management.
- Security, fraud monitoring, and incident response.
- Responding to inquiries and sending important notices.
- Statistics and analytics for UX and product quality improvements.
- Compliance with laws and exercising or defending legal rights.
5. Legal bases (including EEA/UK users)
- Performance of a contract (providing the add-on, managing subscriptions).
- Legitimate interests (service improvement, security, fraud prevention).
- Consent (e.g., cookie consent, optional beta studies and surveys).
- Legal obligations (e.g., accounting/tax record retention).
6. Cookies, analytics, and anti-spam
- Analytics: We may use Google Analytics 4, PostHog, and, if needed, Microsoft Clarity. You can opt out via vendor settings or your browser’s Do Not Track features.
- Anti-spam: Our contact form may use Cloudflare Turnstile or Google reCAPTCHA, which collect device data to assess whether a visitor is a bot.
- Browser settings: You can refuse/delete cookies in your browser. Some features may not function without them.
7. Sharing, processors, and vendors
- Payments: Stripe (payments, invoicing, fraud detection).
- Hosting and delivery: hosting providers/CDNs; email delivery (e.g., Google Workspace).
- Analytics/measurement: Google Analytics, PostHog, Microsoft Clarity (if used).
- We do not sell personal data. We share only as instructed or required by law.
8. International transfers
For service provision we may transfer and store data outside Japan (e.g., the US or EU). Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and technical/organizational measures.
9. Security
- Encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) and minimal Google Sheets scopes.
- Access control, auditable event logs, and strict handling of keys and secrets.
- Limited staff access and confidentiality commitments.
10. Retention
- Billing and accounting records: up to about 7 years as required by law.
- Event logs: generally rotated after about 12 months for operations and auditing.
- Support inquiries: generally deleted about 24 months after resolution.
- In-sheet data: by default remains in your Google account and is not persistently stored by us.
11. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or withdraw consent. To exercise your rights, contact us via the contact form or email support@menugauge.com. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity.
12. Children
Our service is primarily for businesses. If you are under 16, please do not provide personal data to us without parental consent.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our operations or laws change. Material changes will be announced on this site. Your continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
